Introduction to Personal Storytelling with Terry Wolfisch Cole. Wednesday, September 17, at 7:00 PM. This is a one hour Zoom program! This program is part of the Blackstone Public Library’s ongoing LSTA grant, “Voices: A Common Thread.” This grant is in thanks to the Institute of Museum and Library Services, and the Massachusetts Libraries Board of Library Commissioners. Ira Glass of This American Life says, “Great stories happen to people who know how to tell them.” Do you want to get better at captivating listeners? Whether you want to tell your story on stage, in a business meeting or college interview, or at the family table, professional storyteller Terry Wolfisch Cole of Tell Me Another will teach you everything you need to know to engage any audience at this workshop. The session will include an opportunity to hear Terry tell a story, guidance on choosing a story to share, and instruction on how to structure and deliver your story for maximum impact. Puzzle Race

Puzzle Race Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 11:00 AM. This program is for adults, but ages 14 and up are welcome to join a family team! Teams of up to four people can test their skills by racing to complete a 500-piece puzzle. Each team will have up to two hours to complete their puzzle. Patrons are welcome to sign up with a team of four people, or get assigned to a team the day of the race! Each team’s puzzle will be the same, and no-one may see the puzzle until the start of the race. Registration begins Monday, August 11. Call the library or come in person to register for this event. Call the Blackstone Public Library at 508-883-1931 for more information. This event is funded by the Friends of the Blackstone Public Library. Scanning Days at the Library. Available Appointments are Tuesday, September 16 and Thursday, September 18 at 1:00 – 7:00 PM; and Saturday, September 20 at 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM. This program is part of the Blackstone Public Library’s ongoing LSTA grant, “Voices: A Common Thread.” This grant is in thanks to the Institute of Museum and Library Services, and the Massachusetts Libraries Board of Library Commissioners. Preserve your precious family memories! Have you wanted to convert your photographs to a digital format? The library is offering free scanning days! Save your photographs digitally to preserve them forever. Patrons may bring up to 25 photographs to be scanned and stored on a flash drive for your use. The flatbed scanner can accommodate small photos and photos up to 8.5" x 11.7". Appointments are required and are in 30-minute intervals. Call the library at 508-883-1931 to reserve your appointment. “Scanning Days” are supported by grant funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Federal Library Services and Technology Act as administered by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners. The Town of Blackstone has a rich history of cultural heritage. Each month, a book and food item will highlight one of the many ancestries in our town. Food will be served. Please call ahead for allergy concerns. September’s book choice is "The Bandit Queens,” a novel by Parini Shroff. “Geeta's no-good husband disappeared five years ago. She didn't kill him, but everyone thinks she did. Now other women have started asking for her help to deal with their own husbands, and not all of them are asking nicely.” To register, or for more information, please contact the Blackstone Public Library at 508-883-1931. Vintage Family History Scrapbooking Class This program is intended for adults. Please join Library Staff Members for an evening of scrapbooking. Supplies will be provided. We ask that you bring the following: 4 photographs to use in the scrapbook; information about the person/people in the photos (ex. name, age, location, etc.) ; a small blurb about the person (a few sentences). It could be of a particular achievement, historical information, or a fun, family anecdote/memory; your enthusiasm! Registration is required.
